Orissa cyclone in 1999 claimed 1 in 12 live in a population of 17.9 million. We raised £42,000 raised in the W. Midlands from the community.

Disaster recovery programme included rebuilding 35 homes at the village of Patrapada, near Puri which was badly affected by the cyclone. The rebuilding work was undertaken by Habitat for Humanity, an international charity in partnership with Rotary Club of Puri.

Community Health Centre at Puri. – Rotary Club of Puri also provided £5000 cash and land for a Community Health Centre. With our contribution of £15000, the Club build the Community Health Centre and even after the disaster recovery period, currently provides community health services from this Centre. The recovery phase also supported ‘Safe motherhood’ and rehabilitation work in the affected community.
